The campus community mourns the passing of Richard “Dick” Ellis, who died on Monday, March 23.  Dick retired in 2005 as Professor Emeritus of Biology, after 36 years of service to Bucknell. The biology department has shared the following thoughts: Dick was an extremely passionate and dedicated educator and scientist over his long career in the Biology Department. He was committed to bringing out the best in his students and everyone around him. The Bucknell community mourns the loss of our beloved colleague and friend Carmen Gillespie, who passed away unexpectedly at her home on Friday, August 30. At Bucknell, Carmen was a professor of English and founder and director of the Griot Institute for the Study of Black Lives and Cultures. She served as the university’s first arts coordinator and edited the Griot Book Project Series, published by Bucknell University Press.
