Daniel Brobst

The campus community mourns the passing of Daniel Brobst, who died on February 16, 2020.  Daniel was currently employed at Bucknell, having served for more than 15 years in the Department of Public Safety, first as Public Safety Officer and then transitioning to his current role as Communications Officer.

His colleagues in the Department of Public Safety shared that, “We have truly lost a member of our family. His giant heart and his witty humor will sadly be missed.”

Daniel E. Brobst 53, of Catawissa Pa, went to be with the Lord Sunday February 16, 2020, at his residence. Daniel was born March 25, 1966, in Bloomsburg, a son of the late Joseph and Erlda (Wohlford) Brobst.

He graduated from Columbia Montour Vocational Technical School. Daniel worked at Bucknell Unversity in the Security Department, was a part time police officer for Nescopeck, and formally had been a part time officer in Mainville and Shickshinny police Departments. Daniel was a life member and lead Forestry Officer for Catawissa Fire Co. #1, belonged to Espy Fire Co., and the Catawissa Boat Club. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, jet skiing, boating, doing crossword puzzles, gardening and spending time with his dogs.

Daniel is survived by two brothers, Barry Brobst of New Mexico, Joseph Brobst Jr and his wife Joyce of Catawissa, four sisters; Cindy McHugh and her husband Leon of Catawissa. Diane Shultz and her husband Donald of Danville, Karen Thomas and her husband Larry of Catawissa, Barbara Williams of Jim Thorpe, and several nieces and nephews.

Services will be Friday, February 21, 2020 at 3:00 pm at St Luke’s Lutheran Church, 9 St Luke’s Way Bloomsburg, with Rev Kerry Maurer officiating. Burial will take places at the convenience of the family, at Esther Furnace Cemetery. The family will receive friends Friday, from 2:00pm till time of service at the church.
