Dear Colleagues: The campus community mourns the passing of Doris Dysinger M’94, 70, who died on Thursday, March 9.  Doris served as the Curator of Special Collections in the Bucknell University Archives, retiring in 2008 after 24 years of service to the University. She was born April 22, 1946, in Williamsport, a daughter of the late Paul and Thelma (King) Geringer. On June 19, 1971, Doris married James A. Dysinger who survives. The campus community mourns the passing of Edward “Ed” Mastascusa, who died on Sunday, February 5, 2017.  Edward joined the Bucknell faculty in 1968, and, after teaching for 41 years, retired as Professor Emeritus of Electrical Engineering in 2009. Ed received the Lindback Award for Distinguished Teaching in the 1980-81 academic year, and he served as department chair for many years during his tenure at Bucknell. The campus community mourns the passing of James Hornberger, who died on Tuesday, August 9. James worked for dining services, retiring in 1987. James was born May 15, 1921, in Philadelphia, a son of the late George and Johanna (Weinrich) Hornberger. On July 9, 1937, in Elkton, Maryland, he married the former Margaret E. Foss, who preceded him in death April 17, 2011. James served in the Navy during World War II from 1944 until his honorable discharge in 1945. The campus community mourns the passing of Edith Kreps, 79, who died on Monday, July 18.  Edith worked for the University for 15 years, retiring as custodian in 2000. She was born Jan. 12, 1937, in Lewisburg, a daughter of the late Arthur R. and Vivian Alda (Gardner) Baney. She was married to Arthur Kreps who preceded her in death. Edith graduated from Lewisburg High School and worked as a beautician before coming to Bucknell. Edith enjoyed playing bingo, sewing and taking bus trips. The campus community mourns the passing of Geraldine Sauers, 81, who died on Friday, March 25. Geraldine worked for the University for 31 years, retiring as a custodial supervisor in 1996. Geraldine was born June 30, 1934, in Selinsgrove, a daughter of the late Leon and Mary (Herman) Schrader. On June 28, 1952, she married Donald B. Sauers, who survives. The campus community mourns the passing of Ethel Hartman, 96, who died on Friday, March 11, 2016.  Ethel worked as a secretary for the University for 25 years, and prior to retirement in 1982, she worked in the department now known as East Asian Studies. She was born Feb. 16, 1920, the same month as her late husband of 58 years, Paul E. Hartman (1911-1998). The campus community mourns the passing of Lucille Kline, 101, who died on Monday, March 7.  Lucille worked as a secretary in the Department of Athletics, retiring in 1972 after 21 years of service. She was born June 25, 1914 in Parrott, VA, a daughter of the late Walter and Oma (Warfe) Sutherland. Lucille and her husband, Floyd E. Kline, celebrated 51 years of marriage before his death on November 11, 1987. The campus community mourns the passing of Leona Brouse, 99, who died on Sunday, December 6. Leona worked as a custodian for the University for 12 years, retiring in 1983. Born January 21, 1916, a daughter of the late Amos Boyd and Sarah Ellen (Bender) Faust, she almost reached her goal of celebrating her 100th birthday. She was married to Carl W. The campus community mourns the passing of Eugene “Gene” Depew, 66, who died on Monday, November 23, 2015. A member of the Class of 1971, Gene was a recipient of both his bachelor and master of science degrees in education from Bucknell University. Following graduation, Gene returned to Bucknell as an assistant football coach, serving in that role until 1992. He became an assistant baseball coach in 1974 and took on the role of head coach in 1982. He retired as head baseball coach in 2012 after 40 years of service to Bucknell. The campus community mourns the passing of Barry Maxwell, 78, who died on Sunday, October 25, 2015. A member of the Class of 1959, Barry received both his bachelor’s degree and master’s degree in mechanical engineering from Bucknell University. He joined the Bucknell faculty in 1963, became Dean of Engineering in 1979, and in 1986 moved to the role of Vice President for Administration.
