Terry Lee VanBuskirk, Sr.

The campus community mourns the passing of Terry Lee VanBuskirk Sr., 73, who died on Friday, June 23.  Terry worked at Bucknell as a Utilities Technician in Facilities, retiring in 2007 after 25 years of service.

A native of Union County, Terry was born April 14, 1944, in Linntown, a son of the late Palmer Nervon and Wanda (Arner) VanBuskirk. He was married to the former Alice Brouse and together they just celebrated their 50th anniversary.

Terry was a graduate of Lewisburg Area High School with the class of 1962. Upon graduation he served four years in the Air Force. He was employed for a short time at Baker’s Body Shop in Linntown before coming to Bucknell.

He was a member of First Baptist Church of Lewisburg, Kratzer-Dull Post 182 American Legion in Lewisburg, the West Shore Railroad, the West End Fire Company, the Union County Sportsman’s Club and the NRA. Terry enjoyed bowling, hunting and the drags.

In addition to his wife Alice, a retired Academic Assistant of the Economics Department, Terry is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Wendy and Gerald Shoemaker, of West Milton; one son and daughter-in-law, Terry Jr. ’99 and Kara VanBuskirk, currently an Academic Assistant in the Department of Religious Studies, of Winfield; three granddaughters and one grandson.

Terry was preceded in death by one brother, Steven VanBuskirk.

Friends and relatives will be received at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, June 27 at the John H. Shaw III Funeral Home, Market and Eighth streets, Lewisburg, followed by the funeral at 11 a.m., with the Reverend John H. Shaw III officiating.

Burial will follow in the Lewisburg Cemetery with military services provided by Lewisburg area veterans.
