The campus community mourns the passing of Franklin Ellis Harley ‘59, who died on Wednesday, Oct. 27. Ellis retired from Bucknell in 2000 after 36 years of service as associate vice president of finance. Many of Ellis’ family members were graduates of Bucknell, including his wife, Jane ’60, P’86, ’94; his son Craig Harley M’94; his daughter, Sue Ann (Harley) Geisler ’86; his nephew, Eric Sutherland ’85, P’20; and his great-niece, Tace Sutherland ’20. The campus community mourns the passing of Neil Anderson, who died on Wednesday, Sept. 29. Neil retired from Bucknell in 1999, after 40 years of service, as professor emeritus of art. His wife, Connie Timm, is a Bucknell alum, class of ’66. Neil had a kind and warm personality, and a boundless curiosity about his friends’ experiences and the world around him. The campus community mourns the passing of Lewis Dewart M’64, P’78, who died on Saturday, September 4. Lewis retired in 1992 as Professor Emeritus of Mechanical Engineering after 18 years of service to the University. Lewis taught Aerodynamics and Advanced Engineering Problems with special talents in the aerodynamics field. His colleagues have shared that Lewis was a rare combination of a professional who has outstanding laboratory skills and other experimental talents. The campus community mourns the passing of Dan Hoffman who died on Monday, July 26. After 33 years of service to Bucknell, Dan retired from the University in 2003 as Professor Emeritus of Biology. During Dan’s tenure at Bucknell, he received a number of National Science Foundation (NSF) grants. His colleagues in the Biology department shared that Dan was a loyal Bucknellian, having taught in the Biology department for more than 30 years. The campus community mourns the passing of Jerud “Jerry” Mead, who died on Monday, March 1. Jerry retired in 2009 as professor emeritus of computer science after 26 years of service to Bucknell. His colleagues in the Department of Computer Science shared the following about him: Professor Mead taught a broad array of courses.
