Dear Colleagues, The campus community mourns the passing of Douglas K. Candland, 88, who died on Sunday, April 16, 2023. Doug retired as professor emeritus of psychology in 2002 after 41 years of service to Bucknell, leaving an indelible impact on the University community.  A model teacher-scholar, Doug had countless accomplishments during his career here and is perhaps best known for founding Bucknell’s program in animal behavior. Dear Colleagues, The campus community mourns the passing of David John Lu, 94, who died on Monday, Dec. 26. David retired as Professor Emeritus of History and Japanese & East Asian Studies in 1994 after more than 33 years of service to Bucknell. Rev. James “Jim” Hammerlee

The campus community mourns the passing of Reverend James “Jim” Hammerlee, 92, who died on Saturday, Nov. 26. James retired in 1992 with 26 years of service to Bucknell. Jim served in a number of key roles at Bucknell including University chaplain, director of student activities, adviser to international students, and founding director of the Weis Center for the Performing Arts. Theodore Tucker “Tuck” Orbison

The campus community mourns the passing of Theodore Tucker “Tuck” Orbison, 97, who died on Tuesday, Dec. 6. Tuck retired as professor of English in 1991 after more than 29 years of service to Bucknell. Tuck taught Elizabethan drama and modern American literature, and was remembered as a kind colleague and respected teacher. His published works include The Tragic Vision of John Ford (1974) and a journal article on modern drama. James Turnure Sr. P’82

Dear Colleagues, The campus community mourns the passing of James Turnure Sr. P’82, who died on Saturday, Oct. 22. James retired as professor emeritus of art in 1992 after 24 years of service to Bucknell. James is survived by his son, Jim Turnure Jr. ’82.
