Rob Kaleta

Dear Colleagues, The campus community mourns the passing of Robert “Rob” Kaleta, 46, who died on Friday, March 10.  Rob joined Bucknell and the L&IT Enterprise Systems (ES) team in late 2013 as the administrator of our Banner Applications. He was quickly promoted to an Assistant Director role with expanded responsibility for the team that supports the daily operations of some of our most critical systems. Rob was born April 22, 1970, in Ashland, a son of Robert John and Diane (Shuey) Kaleta, of Ranshaw. Doris Dysinger

Dear Colleagues: The campus community mourns the passing of Doris Dysinger M’94, 70, who died on Thursday, March 9.  Doris served as the Curator of Special Collections in the Bucknell University Archives, retiring in 2008 after 24 years of service to the University. She was born April 22, 1946, in Williamsport, a daughter of the late Paul and Thelma (King) Geringer. On June 19, 1971, Doris married James A. Dysinger who survives. Edward Mastascusa

The campus community mourns the passing of Edward “Ed” Mastascusa, who died on Sunday, February 5, 2017.  Edward joined the Bucknell faculty in 1968, and, after teaching for 41 years, retired as Professor Emeritus of Electrical Engineering in 2009. Ed received the Lindback Award for Distinguished Teaching in the 1980-81 academic year, and he served as department chair for many years during his tenure at Bucknell. Michael Payne

The campus community mourns the passing of Dr. Michael David Payne, 75, of Lewisburg, on Saturday, January 14, 2017 at Riverwoods, Lewisburg. Born January 17, 1941 in Dallas, TX, he was a son of the late Fred G. Payne and Jocie (Kirkham) and Lester Lundberg. He was a graduate of the University of California, Berkeley, and Southern Oregon College. Michael then earned his doctorate in English from the University of Oregon. Beth Bouchard

The campus community mourns the passing of Beth Bouchard after a courageous battle with cancer. Beth came to Bucknell in July of 2010 from Rider University and served as the Director of the First-year Experience. Beth was a passionate and committed member of our community who cared deeply about our students. James Hornberger

The campus community mourns the passing of James Hornberger, who died on Tuesday, August 9. James worked for dining services, retiring in 1987. James was born May 15, 1921, in Philadelphia, a son of the late George and Johanna (Weinrich) Hornberger. On July 9, 1937, in Elkton, Maryland, he married the former Margaret E. Foss, who preceded him in death April 17, 2011. James served in the Navy during World War II from 1944 until his honorable discharge in 1945. Edith Kreps

The campus community mourns the passing of Edith Kreps, 79, who died on Monday, July 18.  Edith worked for the University for 15 years, retiring as custodian in 2000. She was born Jan. 12, 1937, in Lewisburg, a daughter of the late Arthur R. and Vivian Alda (Gardner) Baney. She was married to Arthur Kreps who preceded her in death. Edith graduated from Lewisburg High School and worked as a beautician before coming to Bucknell. Edith enjoyed playing bingo, sewing and taking bus trips. Madhu Malik

The campus community mourns the passing of Madhu Malik, who died on Friday, May 20. Madhu joined the Bucknell Faculty in 1983 and after teaching for 26 years, retired as Professor Emeritus of Russian in 2009. A native of India, where she was born in 1947 on the eve of India’s independence, Madhu received her BA and MA in Russian Language and Literature from the Jawaharlal Nehru University, and her PhD in Slavic Folklore from the University of Virginia in 1982. Sally Nyquist

The campus community mourns the passing of Sally Nyquist, who died on Wednesday, May 11.  Sally joined the Bucknell Faculty in 1972 and after teaching for 32 years, retired as Professor Emeritus of Biology in 2004. Sally was born Nov. 8, 1941, in Hutchinson, Minn. She grew up on a farm and attended a one-room rural school house for her first seven years. After graduation from high school and Wheaton College, she entered the Peace Corps where she worked on a general science curriculum development project and taught for two years at Pio Duran Memorial School in Guinobatan, Albay, Philippines. Geraldine “Geri” Sauers

The campus community mourns the passing of Geraldine Sauers, 81, who died on Friday, March 25. Geraldine worked for the University for 31 years, retiring as a custodial supervisor in 1996. Geraldine was born June 30, 1934, in Selinsgrove, a daughter of the late Leon and Mary (Herman) Schrader. On June 28, 1952, she married Donald B. Sauers, who survives.
