The campus community mourns the passing of Gladys Lakes ’47, who died on Wednesday, October 14. Gladys retired in 1990 as the Assistant Registrar after 30 years at Bucknell. Gladys was born in Lewisburg on September 1, 1925. She was the daughter of the late Benson and Mary E. (Moran) McDowell. She was married to the late Russell H. Lakes. She was born January 9, 1925, in Northumberland, the daughter of Robert L. and Mildred (Hassinger) Herman. On Jan. 9, 1946 she married John E. Longacre who preceded her in death on June 21, 2000. Born June 13, 1926, she was a daughter of the late Monroe and Vertie (Schreffler) Neiswender. On Aug. 1, 1948, she married George “Lewie” Sauers, who preceded her in death.
