Katherine Wheatcroft

The campus community mourns the passing of Katherine Wheatcroft M’75, 92, who died Friday, Feb. 6. Katherine retired after more than 17 years of service to Bucknell within the College of Arts & Sciences and as adviser of The Bucknellian. She is remembered as an enthusiastic and kind colleague who was a dedicated mentor to the students she worked with, both in classes and particularly with The Bucknellian

Katherine W. Wheatcroft, 92, died February 6, 2026, at her home in Lewisburg, PA.

Katherine was born on February 4, 1934, in Richmond, VA, to the late John and Katherine Whaley. In 1993 she married John S. Wheatcroft, who preceded her in death March 14, 2017. She was previously married to the late Thomas E. Warner, with whom she had two daughters.

She attended St. Catherine’s School and Hollins College in Virginia. After a career in newspaper journalism, she earned a master’s in English at Bucknell University, where she taught for many years and acted as adviser to the student newspaper, The Bucknellian, until her retirement in 1997.

She will be remembered for the pleasure she found traveling in the Yorkshire countryside and living at her beloved Gundy Farm in Lewisburg, where she enjoyed gardening, music, literature, her cats and Gordon setters, and martinis with Jack on her porch overlooking the Susquehanna.

Surviving are two daughters, Alison Warner and Rebecca Warner, of Lewisburg; two grandchildren, Natasha Sieczkiewicz and Owen Rash; her sister Joan Godwin of Ithaca, NY; and her nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and both husbands, she was preceded in death by her sister Barbara Hall in 1997.

Burial service will be held in Lewisburg Cemetery at a later date at the convenience of the family.

The family is being assisted by Cronrath-Grenoble Funeral Home, South Second and St. Louis Streets, Lewisburg.
