Jeffrey Holmes

The campus community mourns the passing of Jeffrey Holmes, 69, who died Tuesday, Sept. 24. Jeff joined Bucknell’s custodial team in July 2018. He worked in several buildings across campus, most recently on third shift in the Bertrand Library. He will be missed by many.

Jeffrey Richard Holmes, 69, of Lewisburg, entered into rest Tuesday, Sept. 24, 2024, at his residence.

He was born Sept. 22, 1955, in Jamestown, NY, a son of the late John Holmes and Diane (Carlson) Holmes. On Oct. 24, 2009, he married Janice (Josephson) Holmes, who survives. Together, they shared 25 years of memories.

He was a graduate of Jamestown High School.

Jeff served in the Army from May 20, 1977 until his honorable discharge on May 19, 1980.

Jeff worked most of his career in telecommunications and was currently employed at Bucknell University.

He enjoyed golfing, fishing, hunting, and reading. He also enjoyed spending time with his golfing buddies.

Surviving in addition to his wife Janice, are his stepdaughter, Casey Moore; three granddaughters, Caroline, Rebekah, Deanna; great-granddaughter, Oakley; brother, Mike Holmes of Jamestown; sister and brother-in-law, Sue and Fritz Bell of Forestville, NY. Also surviving are his second Mom (mother-in-law), Deanna Arp; sisters and brothers-in-law, Mary and Tom Buck, Bill Josephson, Brenda Milbrand, Joy Josephson and several beloved nieces and nephews and his many friends.

He was preceded in death by both parents, John and Diane Holmes.

Services will be private at the discretion of the family.
