Pauline “Polly” Sauers

The campus community mourns the passing of Pauline “Polly” Sauers, who died on Thursday, July 23. Polly retired in 1992 as the assistant to the dean of engineering after 21 years at Bucknell.

Born June 13, 1926, she was a daughter of the late Monroe and Vertie (Schreffler) Neiswender. On Aug. 1, 1948, she married George “Lewie” Sauers, who preceded her in death.

Polly was a long-time member of the Messiah Evangelical Lutheran Church, New Berlin.

Surviving are two daughters and sons-in-law, Romany E. and John N. Fisher of Port Trevorton, and Rene A. and Duane J. Bruhl of Richfield; two grandchildren, Jill A. Ferrante of Ocean City, Md. and Derek J. Fisher of Selinsgrove; and a great-granddaughter.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Charles and Robert Neiswender.

A private graveside service will be conducted at the New Berlin Cemetery at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association of Greater Pennsylvania, 2595 Interstate Drive, Suite 100, Harrisburg, PA 17110.
