The campus community mourns the passing of Barry Solomon, 75, who died Wednesday, Aug. 14. Barry retired as the warehouse supervisor in 2010 after 32 years of service to Bucknell.

Barry W. Solomon, 75, of Susquehanna Trail, Watsontown, passed away Wednesday, Aug. 14, 2024, at Geisinger Medical Center, Danville. Born Sept. 8, 1948, in Lewisburg, he was the son of the late Leroy and Evelyn (Ulrich) Solomon. He was married on June 18, 1977, to the former Holly Harris who survives.
Barry was a 1966 graduate from Mooseheart High School in Illinois. He worked at Bucknell as the warehouse supervisor and retired after 32 years. Afterwards he worked at Ficks Hardware in Watsontown. He served in the Army during the Vietnam War. Barry was a member of St. Andrew’s United Methodist Church in Milton. He was a former commander and 55 year member of American Legion Post 957 in New Berlin. Barry enjoyed mowing and trying to fix things.
He is survived by his wife, Holly; a son, Brandon Solomon of Greencastle; a brother, Anthony and Susan Solomon of Winfield; and a sister-in-law, Bonnie Solomon of New Berlin.
Barry was preceded in death by five siblings, Kenneth Solomon, Sylvia Blackburn, Dolores Snook, Linda Ramsey, and Deborah Murphy.
Friends and relatives were received from 10 to 11 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 20, at the Shaw Funeral Home, 400 N. Front St., Milton, where funeral services were held at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Brian Lucas officiating.
Burial with military honors was held in McEwensville Cemetery.

I had several opportunities to interact with Barry while I was dean. He was very helpful and so pleasant. I heard others, including Barry Maxwell, praise him as well. My sincere condolences to his family.
