Audrey Zuch

The campus community mourns the passing of Audrey Zuch, 95, who died on Wednesday, October 11. Audrey was employed in Library and Information Technology while at Bucknell, retiring in 1988 after 20 years of service.

Audrey Anne Tarbert Zuch, 95, of Lewisburg since 1966, formerly of York, entered into rest surrounded by her loving family at 3:20 p.m. Wednesday, October 11, 2017.

She was born June 5, 1922, in York, a daughter of the late Andrew Howard and Ruth Lydia (Coxey) Tarbert. On August 8, 1942, she married Charles Robert Leroy Zuch who preceded her in death November 17, 2001.

Audrey was a 1939 graduate of William Penn Senior High School, York, and attended Elizabethtown College where she completed studies in secretarial science.  An active member of Beaver Memorial United Methodist Church, Lewisburg, she served on Administrative Council and various committees, taught children’s Sunday School, and attended annual Susquehanna Conferences as a lay delegate. She was also a member of Elizabeth Circle and an officer of United Methodist Women.

She was employed at Bucknell University in the cataloging department of Ellen Clarke Bertrand Library for 20 years until her retirement in 1988. Earlier in life, she was employed at GE during World War II and as church secretary of Zion Lutheran Church of York.

Audrey enjoyed yoga, travel, Red Hat functions, gardening, and spending time with her family and friends, including many who considered her their second mother.

Surviving are three daughters and one son-in-law, Bonna and Bruno Cafiso, of Sunbury, Karen Hart, of Lewisburg and Phoenix, Ariz., and Wendy Lee, of Chambersburg; one son and daughter-in-law, Joseph and Tammy Zuch, of Greencastle; two sisters and one brother-in-law, Beverly and Paul Mulay, of York, and Dorothy Baney, of York; six grandchildren and their spouses, Robert Hart, Melissa and Scott Petersen, Tamara and Kevin Shepherd, Danielle and James Williams, Heather and Joshua Walker, and Kristen Lee and her companion, Evan Brault; eight great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by one son, Andrew Robert Zuch; one son-in-law, Arthur Hart; one great-granddaughter, Kayla Marie Shepherd; and one brother-in-law, Kenneth Baney.

A memorial service to celebrate Audrey’s life will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday, November 4, 2017, at Beaver Memorial United Methodist Church, 42 S. Third St., Lewisburg, with the Rev. Mark F. Reisinger and Rev. John Dromazos officiating. There will be a luncheon at the church immediately following the service. Private interment will be conducted at the Mount Rose Cemetery, York, at the convenience of the family.

In lieu of flowers, Audrey and her family ask that you perform an act of kindness by doing something special for someone or making a cherished memory with your family.
