Garvis Kron

The campus community mourns the passing of Garvis Kron, 82, who died on Monday, August 21. Garvis was employed in Administrative Services (now PP&M) and Athletics & Recreation while at Bucknell, retiring in 1996 after 18 years of service. His daughter, Kathy Kron, is a 1986 graduate.

Garvis S. Kron, 82, of Lewisburg, passed away Monday, Aug. 21, 2017, at Buffalo Valley Lutheran Village, Lewisburg.

He was born Nov. 2, 1934, in Brooklyn, N.Y., a son of the late Sievert and Wilhelmina Kron. On July 12, 1963, he married the former Peggy Wehr who survives. Together they celebrated 54 years of marriage.

Earlier in life, Garvis worked as a local radio personality for WKOK and WMLP. He later retired from Bucknell University.

Garvis was a member of the First Evangelical Lutheran Church, Mifflinburg. In his free time, he enjoyed volunteering at Evangelical Community Hospital. An avid reader, Garvis loved books and movies about cowboys and the Wild West. He also loved Texas and the King Ranch.

Surviving in addition to his wife, Peggy, are two children, Kathy Kron, of Lewisburg and John Kron and his wife, Jeanne, of Kunkletown; and two grandchildren, Seth and Sara Kron.

Services will be held privately at the convenience of the family. Inurnment will be in the Lewisburg Cemetery columbarium.

The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Public Library for Union County, 255 Reitz Blvd., Lewisburg, PA 17837. The family is being assisted by the Cronrath-Grenoble Funeral Home, South Second and St. Louis streets, Lewisburg.
