Barry Maxwell ’59

The campus community mourns the passing of Barry Maxwell, 78, who died on Sunday, October 25, 2015. A member of the Class of 1959, Barry received both his bachelor’s degree and master’s degree in mechanical engineering from Bucknell University. He joined the Bucknell faculty in 1963, became Dean of Engineering in 1979, and in 1986 moved to the role of Vice President for Administration. David Ray

The campus community mourns the passing of David Ray, 84, who died on Monday, March 2. David joined the Bucknell faculty in 1964 and after teaching for 35 years, retired as Professor Emeritus of Mathematics in 1999. In 1970, David received the Christian R. and Mary F. Lindback Award for Distinguished Teaching. He also served as Chairman of the Mathematics Department and Chairman of the Faculty during his time at the University. Gerald Wang Cook

The campus community mourns the passing of Gerald Wang Cooke, 89, who died on Wednesday, December 24, 2014. Gerald joined the Bucknell faculty in 1962 and, after teaching for 26 years, retired as Professor Emeritus of Religion in 1988. ​He graduated from Cheyenne Mountain High School, continued his education at Colorado College where he earned a Bachelor of Arts degree, and then at Yale Divinity School, where he graduated with a degree of Doctor of Divinity. He was a member of Phi Beta Kappa, the national academic honor society. Richard P. Nickelsen

The campus community mourns the passing of Professor Richard Nickelsen, 89, who died on Sunday, November 23. Richard joined the Bucknell Faculty in 1959 and after teaching for 33 years, retired as Professor Emeritus of Geology in 1992. He was born October 1, 1925, in Lynbrook, NY, son of the late Karl and Olga (Holm) Nickelsen. On November 18, 1950, he married the former Helen “Cindy” Beardsley. Together they celebrated 64 years of marriage.
