Bruce Kline

The campus community mourns the passing of Bruce Kline, who died on Wednesday, December 2, 2020.  Bruce has worked in our Facilities Department for 41 years, having served as equipment operator on the grounds/labor crew, as trades apprentice for carpentry, electrical, welding and plumbing, and then promoted to carpenter in 2007.

Bruce has worked on many campus projects, most notably Freas Hall, Bostwick, President’s Dining Room and O’Leary office renovations. He was an active member of the Facilities Safety Committee.  Bruce was known not only for his reliable and knowledgeable expertise, but also for his positive attitude, kind manner and excellent customer service.

Bruce Kline, age 63, of Lewisburg, passed away on Wednesday, Dec. 2. He was born in Lewisburg, Pa., on April 19, 1957, to Russell and Irene (Lucas) Kline.

He worked at Bucknell University for 41 years, starting first on the grounds crew, then working as a carpenter until his passing.

On Oct. 10,1981, he married the former Karen George. He was a very loving husband. The two of them enjoyed traveling to different places and exploring new things.

Bruce was a member of the Milton Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses. He was also a volunteer at the Lewisburg Penitentiary since 1988, where he loved teaching the Bible to the inmates.

Bruce was preceded in death by his parents and a brother Alan. He is survived by his wife Karen; two sisters, Linda and Larry Kirkner, and Sylvia Kline; three nephews, Brent and Amanda Kline, Bradley and Aimee Kline and Travis Kline; two nieces, Josie and Matthew Thompson and JoAnn and Aggidio Lauria; two grand-nephews and one grand-niece Cameron, Cora and Archer.

There will be a zoom memorial service for Bruce given by elder Larry Kirkner on Saturday. Dec. 12, at 2 p.m.
