The campus community mourns the passing of Gene Bowman, who died on Thursday, April 6, 2017.\u00a0 Gene served as custodian at Bucknell, beginning in 1968, and retired from the University.<\/p>\n
He was born in Sunbury on August 23, 1937, a son of the late Lloyd and Sara (Sanders) Bowman. He married the love of his life, Sandra L. Faust, on March 29, 1970, who passed away on May 30, 2010.<\/p>\n
Gene attended school in Sunbury, and served in the Army Reserves.<\/p>\n
He loved being with his wife (whom he missed dearly) and family. His life revolved around his grandson. He enjoyed cookouts, camping, carnivals and the Squeeze-In, where he liked his hotdogs burned. He was a Philadelphia Eagles football fan.<\/p>\n
Gene is survived by his daughter, Laurie A. Knotts, of Danville; grandson, Ryan Kalcich; brother, Charles Berry, of New Berlin; sisters, Dolly Bainbridge and Mary Weaver, both of Sunbury; and numerous nieces and nephews.<\/p>\n
In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Joan Williams and Shirley Propst.<\/p>\n
